Senior Hannah Calton won a pair of races, and freshman Alyce-Faye Eichelberger also claimed a victory, but LMU swimming dropped a home meet to San Diego, 164-97, on Saturday afternoon from the Burns Aquatics Center.

Calton earned top honors in the 100 freestyle (53.35) and 400 individual medley (4:32.51). In that 400, LMU also managed a third-place finish, as freshman Lanna Kozlowski turned in a time of 4:40.82.

Eichelberger took first place in the 100 backstroke, turning in a time of 59.89, to edge her teammate, Taylor Anderson, at 1:00.00. She then returned to the water in the 200 backstroke, claiming second in 2:12.24.

Both Eichelberger and Calton swam on LMU’s 200 medley relay that took second to open competition.

The Lions showed well in the distance events, claiming second through fourth in the 1000 freestyle, and the same spots in the 500 freestyle. Kozlowski led the way for LMU in the 1000, stopping the clock at 10:41.06 before Lauren Akin (10:51.41) and Keara Reilly (10:56.10) followed shortly thereafter. In the 500, Stacy Maier took second with a time of 5:17.11, followed by Akin (5:22.23) and Reilly (5:23.71).

Although San Diego’s Dani Taylor took first in the 50 freestyle, LMU placed second through fifth in the event, as Jessica Gillis (25.71), Lia Porcelli Jorgensen (25.74), Samantha Smith (26.05) and Tori Yee (26.17) earned those spots, respectively.

LMU will return to action on November 17 when it participates in the three-day A3 Performance Invitational from East LA College.
