Plenty of Personal-Bests Highlight A3 Performance Invitational
LMU swimming posted 15 personal-best times over the three-day competition.
On the final day of the A3 Performance Invitational, three additional Lions swimmers qualified for the evening finals, including LMU senior standout Hannah Calton, who made it back to her third final of the competition placing 13th in the 100 freestyle in a personal-best time of 51.69.
Joining Calton in Saturday's finals were sophomore Mary Schell in the 200 breaststroke placing 30th with a personal-best of 2:30.98 and freshman Olivia Nielsen who shaved almost two seconds off her personal-best in the 200 butterfly with a 2:09.79 for 30th place.
Over the course of the three-day competition, the young LMU team achieved 15 personal-best performances. Fourteen of the 19 Lion swimmers in the competition were underclassmen comprised of ten freshmen and four sophomores. Those Lions achieving personal-best times were:
Samantha Smith (freshman): 50 Freestyle (25.30), 100 Backstroke (1:00.57), 100 Freestyle (56.14)
Olivia Nielsen (freshman): 200 Individual Medley (2:16.84), 100 Butterfly (57.99 -- 31st place), and 200 Butterfly (2:09.79 - 30th place)
Lanna Kozlowski (freshman): 500 Freestyle (5:04.45), 400 Individual Medley (4:35.98 - 27th place)
Mary Schell (sophomore): 100 Breaststroke (1:09.87), 200 Breaststroke (2:30.98 -- 30th place)
Tori Yee (junior): 200 Backstroke (2:11.79)
Stacy Maier (senior): 50 Free (24.33), 100 Free (52.79)
Hannah Calton (senior): 200 Individual Medley (2:03.00 -- 6th place), 100 Freestyle (51.69 -- 13th place)
