LOS ANGELES, Calif. -
The LMU swim team will have a busy week this week, returning from a training trip in Hawai'i on Tuesday before hosting Tulane on Friday at 12 p.m. at Burns Aquatics Center. The Lions will then hit the road on Saturday for a double-dual meet against host UC San Diego and CSU Bakersfield at 12 p.m.
LMU as a team last hit competitive water at the 2012 Arena Invitational. There, LMU completed a stellar three-day run, qualifying 16 swimmers overall to event finals over the course of the invite. Three swimmers, senior Camille Hopp, junior Rachel Dekar, and freshman Kristen Clarno, qualified to swim at the US Winter National Championships in Austin, Texas after turning in stellar swims at the Arena Invitational.
Hopp first appeared in the 50 freestyle event, placing 50th overall in the preliminary with a time of 23.71. She later returned to the water to swim in the 100 breaststroke, recording a season-best time of 1:03.22 to finish 36th in the preliminary swim. Hopp finished just about a second away from qualifying for the evening final in the 100 breaststroke, as the Top-24 qualified with the slowest time of 1:02.19.
Dekar also swam in the 100 breaststroke, placing 45th overall in a time of 1:04.32. Clarno, who broke the LMU program record in the 200 IM earlier this year, competed in the same event on Thursday morning in Austin, placing 47th overall in 2:04.74.
