The LMU swim team is back in full swing, continuing the second part of their season this Friday and Saturday, welcoming Dixie State, Pepperdine, and the University of Alaska, Fairbanks to the Burn’s Aquatic Center for the second annual Lion’s Cup Invitational. The first session will take place on Friday at 1:30 PM. Session two will begin on Saturday at 9:30, with the final session beginning at noon that same day. Saturday will also include a celebration of the Lion seniors, Tori Yee and Maddie Lipkowitz, as other sports teams will be joining during the break to compete in a relay of their own.
Though the Lions have already faced, and defeated Dixie State at the first meet of the season with a 138-123 victory, this will be the first time this season that LMU will challenge both Pepperdine and Alaska. The last time the teams met at the Lion’s Cup, LMU came out on top after a nail biting back and forth between the Lions and the Pepperdine Waves.
This meet will be important for the Lions, after coming off of a double fall to both CSU Bakersfield and UC San Diego last weekend. Dixie State and Pepperdine are both coming off of successful victories, with Dixie defeating Arizona Christian University last weekend and the Waves conquering Manhattan College.
Following this weekend, LMU will travel to Claremont, California for the final dual meet of the season at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, which will take place on January 27th at noon.
