LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The LMU swim team will have its final tune-up on Saturday, swimming at UC Santa Barbara against UCSB and Pacific at 12 p.m. The double dual meet is the last competition before the MPSF Championships from February 20-23.

The Lions are coming off a split of a double dual meet at home against CSU Bakersfield and Cal Baptist last Saturday. The Roadrunners defeated the Lions by a count of 151-137 and took down the Lancers, 195-103. CSU Bakersfield benefitted from 26 points in the diving competition against the Lions. LMU did manage to defeat Cal Baptist by a score of 181-106.

LMU won five events, including a pair of victories from senior Sophie Allen in the 100 (season-best 58.41) and 200 backstroke (2:07.24). Allen was one of four seniors lauded prior to competition as part of Senior Day. LMU also bid adieu to Camille Hopp, Stephanie Hess and Noelani Vargas. Hopp, Allen and Hess each swam on LMU's winning 200 medley relay team to start competition, while Hopp claimed an individual victory with a time of 24.00 in the 50 freestyle. Vargas had an impressive swim in the 100 backstroke, taking home third at 1:00.55, before earning a second-place finish in the 200 backstroke at 2:10.20 to help LMU to the 1-2 finish in front of CSU Bakersfield. Hopp and Hess helped LMU to a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 breaststroke, as Rachel Dekar won the event in 1:05.20 followed by Hopp (1:05.25) and Hess (1:08.10).

UCSB is coming off a loss at the hands of UC Davis on Saturday afternoon in Fresno, Calif., as the Gauchos fell to the Aggies by a count of 180-120. Pacific last competed on Jan. 12, when they faced rival UC Davis in a dual meet at the Schaal Aquatics Center. Pacific lost to the Aggies, 176.5-106.5, despite recording some solid times on the day.
