LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The LMU swimming team was named to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All American list for its work during the fall 2011 semester. The Lions combined for a 3.27 GPA over the course of the semester, matching St. Cloud State University and the University of Arizona.
Top-honor in terms of GPA on the women's side went to the University of South Carolina with a 3.62 GPA. Other members of the MPSF lauded included Seattle University (3.42), University of San Diego (3.31), Cal Poly (3.30), BYU (3.18), Northern Colorado (3.04), and UC Davis (3.02).
The Scholar All-American team honor is awarded twice a year, once after each semester. Eligible teams must hold a 3.0 GPA (or converted on a 4.0 scale) or better to be selected. No stranger to academic success, LMU was named to the same list for the spring 2011 semester, and held the 30th-best GPA in Division I swimming in 2010.
