A trio of LMU programs, including men's soccer, women's swimming and women's indoor track, received NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) Public Recognition awards on Wednesday as the NCAA recognized Division I athletic teams for outstanding APR scores.
Division I teams that posted multi-year APRs in the top-10 percent of all squads in their respective sports were acknowledged by the NCAA. The public recognition awards are part of a broad Division I academic reform effort.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.
LMU women's swimming was lauded for the fifth time (fourth straight year), while women's indoor track took home the honor for the third straight year. Men's soccer, which won the 2013 WCC Championship, received the recognition for the first time.
