LOS ANGELES, Calif. -

LMU swimming will travel to La Mirada, Calif. to take part in the PCSC Relays and PCSC Pentathlon this weekend in its first competitive events of the season. LMU welcomes 11 newcomers to the team this year, joining a talented group of returners.

Last year, LMU opened the 2011 season with a bang, claiming first place at both the PCSC Relays and PCSC Pentathlon in Fresno, Calif. The Lions topped eight other squads in the relays, posting 118 points to beat second-place finisher Cal Baptist at 91. LMU went on to an even better performance in the Pentathlon, finishing with 763.5 points compared to second-place Fresno Pacific at 440. The weekend was highlighted by Tammy Choy's second consecutive victory in the long medley pentathlon.

After this weekend's competition, LMU will return to the water on October 26 at the Malibu Invitational hosted by Pepperdine.
