LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The LMU swimming team will hit the road this week, traveling to Austin, Texas for the Texas Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame Invitational starting on Thursday and running through Saturday. Swimming preliminary rounds begin at 10 a.m. Central each day, and the finals sessions, with multiple finals heats in each event, begin at 6 p.m. from the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Women's teams scheduled to participate include Texas, Arizona, Wisconsin, UCLA, Wyoming, UC Davis, North Texas and Sydney University (Australia). For the swimmers, the invitational serves as a chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships that will take place in March.
LMU last hit the water at the 2011 Arena Invitational. LMU once again had a strong performance at the storied invitational this year, recording nearly 100% season-best performances from its 24 swimmers over the course of the three-day invitational. Senior Tammy Choy highlighted the performances, setting a new program record in the 200 backstroke. Choy lowered the record set by junior teammate Sophie Allen at last year's MPSF Conference Championships, bringing the Lion standard down from 2:03.00 to 2:02.86.
The University of Texas will provide live results throughout the competition at Texas Invitational Information Page. TexasSports.com will also provide a live video stream of each evening's swimming finals beginning at 6 p.m. Central.
