Pair of Home Matches Next for Lions

With one match under its belt so far this spring, the LMU women’s tennis team will host its first home matches of the year this weekend from the LMU Tennis Center. The Lions (0-1) will welcome Cal State Fullerton to campus on Saturday at 10 a.m. before squaring off against Sacramento State at Noon on Sunday.

Lions Fall in Heartbreaker to Open Season

The LMU women’s tennis team (0-1) battled CSU Northridge (1-2) tough on Saturday afternoon to open the spring tennis season, with the match coming down to a final decision on court five during singles play, but the Matadors defended their home court by way of a hard-fought 4-3 victory.

2016 Season Begins Saturday at Northridge

The 2016 spring LMU women’s tennis season is set to begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Cal State Northridge, and the Lions enter the year sporting a preseason All-WCC player in junior Jessica Perez. Perez was named to the six-person team by WCC coaches as part of the annual preseason poll conducted last week.

Junior Jessica Perez won the Costa Mesa Open Classic Tournament, defeating LMU commit Caisey Lee Emery, 7-6, 6-1, for the Tournament title on Wednesday. Emery was the #3 seed in the draw, while Perez was tabbed fourth.
