Lions Suffer First Loss of Season, Fall to No. 65 UC Irvine
Women's tennis is swept in it's first loss of the season, losing 7-0 to the 65th-ranked Anteaters.

IRVINE, Calif. -- LMU women’s tennis suffered its first defeat of the season, losing at No. 65 UC Irvine, 7-0. The Lions (2-1) fell in court order in doubles and only won one set in singles against the Anteaters (3-3).
Goettsching and Smith beat juniors Miya Jin and Claudia Razzeto on court one, 8-4. Senior April Bisharat and sophomore Tory Parravi fell 8-6 to Mamiit and Stadfelt giving UC Irvine the point. In the final doubles result, A. Facey and Schweyer defeated freshman Kristine Kouyoumjian and junior Reka Rohonyi, 8-5, in #3 doubles.
Sophomore Lisa Piller, filling in for Parravi who was withdrawn after the doubles round due to injury, was the first to fall in singles, losing 6-1, 6-2 to Stadfelt on court six. Bisharat fell 6-1, 6-4 to Smith in #1 singles. Mamiit defeated Razzeto 6-2, 6-1 clinching the match for the Anteaters.
Rohonyi lost to Gong, 6-3, 6-1 in #4 singles. Kouyoumjian won the only set of the day for the Lions, winning the second set against Ali Facey before falling 6-3, 3-6, 10-6 in a third-set tiebreak. Jin fell to Goettsching 6-3, 6-3 in #4 singles.
LMU will look to bounce back next Thursday, Feb. 7 as they host UC Riverside at 1:30 p.m. at the LMU Tennis Center.
