The Loyola Marymount University women's tennis team completed play in the Cal State L.A. Invitational this weekend. The Lions dominated the final round of action in both singles and doubles play. Robyn Baker and Pavla Mesterova led the Lions. Both were undefeated going into the final round of singles play where they will take on each other in a match held at LMU.
In singles action, Baker and Mesterova will compete against each other in the final round of the tournament in a match played at a time TBA at LMU.
Patrycia Hubl and Maja Sundac also competed in singles action in the final round. In flight 3 and 4 of the tournament Hubl fell to Renee Paquillo of Cal Poly Pomona by default. But in flight 5 and 6 Maja Sundac defeated Kristin Handley of Claremount-Mudd-Scripps 6-1, 6-0.
The Lions also showed their strength in doubles action this weekend. In flight one, Pavla Mesterova and Maja Sundac defeated Yassie Entiekhabi and Jeannine Liang of Claremount-Mudd-Scripps 9-7.
In flight two, the team of Erin Ivey and Robyn Baker defeated Ellyn Caprara and Renee Paquillo of Cal Poly Pomona 8-2.
The Lions next travel to San Diego, CA to take on San Diego State on Wednesday February 8, 2006 at 2:00PM.
