Lions, Ranked at No. 64, Take Matadors in Near Perfection
LMU's women's tennis team defeats CSUN, 6-1

Los Angeles, CA - The Loyola Marymount University (LMU) 64th-ranked women's tennis team defeated the Cal State Northridge team 6-1 Wednesday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Courts, with only one match going into a third set.
In singles, the Lions led off with Andrea Lord defeating Rani Setiawati in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Penka Fileva played at No. 2 for the Lions, defeating Kendra Segura, 6-0, 2-5 (Ret.). Angelina Zdorovytska took the victory at the No. 3 spot, defeating Stephanie Chu 7-5, 6-3. Freshman Jessica Placencia played in her second match as a Lion, defeating CSUN?s Veronika Wagner in three, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. Julie Hladik successfully moved to No. 5 for the Lions, as she took Brittany Bierman down in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1. Beatrice Sagaria-Rossi rounded out the Lions lineup at No. 6 (playing in her first dual match this season) and was defeated by Mai Narasaki of the Matadors, 9-8).
All three of the Lions doubles teams were successful in their matches, taking the doubles point straight across the board. Head Coach, Jamie Sanchez, changed up the doubles lineup at No. 2 and 3, as Fileva and Hladik paired up for the No. 2 spot, and Edit Pakay teamed up with Placencia for the No. 3 match.
The Lions will travel across town on Saturday to face the 15th-ranked Women of Troy from USC on Saturday, February 15. That match is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m.
