Lions Defeat Northern Arizona 4-3
LMU won the doubles point and then went on to win three singles matches that secured their 4-3 victory over Northern Arizona.

Las Vegas, Nevada The Loyola Marymount University women's tennis team continues play in the UNLV Invitational this weekend. On Saturday the Lions defeated Northern Arizona University. LMU started out strong in doubles play and won two of their three doubles matches giving them the doubles point. To gain the win the Lions won three singles matches that secured their 4-3 victory over Northern Arizona.
The Lions started the day of competition by winning the doubles point. Erin Ivey and Patrycia Hubl defeated Stacey Pinchbeck and Susan McClleland of Northern Arizona 8-4. Along with the 8-3 victory of two LMU freshmen, Sladjana Kos and Maja Sundac, over Regan Newman and Julie Schmandt of Northern Arizona the Lions were able to pull ahead early in the day.
Singles play looked very similar to the match on Friday against Boise State. The Lions won at the number one, two and five spots. Pavla Mesterova won again in straight sets against Susan McClleland of Northern Arizona 6-1, 6-0. Robyn Baker also obtained the win at the number two spot in a tough fought match against Julie Schmandt of Northern Arizona. Baker fell in the first set 3-6, but came back strong in the next two sets winning 6-1, 6-0. Also, at the number five spot Sladjana Kos won in straight sets against Northern Arizona's Regan Newman 6-1, 6-3.
The Lions have shown to be competitive in the top singles positions and are looking to continue this strength throughout the season in the other singles positions. Patrycia Hubl and Maja Sundac of LMU fought hard in their singles matches, and almost gained a win but Northern Arizona came out ahead.
The Lions continue action at the UNLV Invitational Sunday at 9:00AM against the University of Montana.
