Los Angeles, CA - The Loyola Marymount University women's tennis team defeated the 75th-ranked Eastern Michigan Eagles 5-2 Wednesday afternoon as the Lions improve to 4-6 in the season heading into two more games this week.

All of the Lions points came in singles play as they took all but one singles match. LMU's Andrea Lord defeated Rebecca Hawkins at the No. 1 spot in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1. Hawkins is currently ranked at 129 in the ITA singles rankings. Penka Fileva won her match at No. 2 for the Lions, defeating Lisa D'Amelio in three (3-6, 6-4, 6-0). Edit Pakay, who earned her first-ever ITA singles ranking of 56, played at No. 3 for the Lions taking the three-set match from Simone Duhme (6-7, 6-1, 6-3). Angelina Zdorovytska played at No. 4, winning her straight-set match over Amilia Lincara (6-2, 6-3).
