LMU, Ranked 68, Defeat No. 75 Eastern Michigan
The Lions towered the Eagles 5-2.

Los Angeles, CA - The Loyola Marymount University women's tennis team defeated the 75th-ranked Eastern Michigan Eagles 5-2 Wednesday afternoon as the Lions improve to 4-6 in the season heading into two more games this week.
All of the Lions points came in singles play as they took all but one singles match. LMU's Andrea Lord defeated Rebecca Hawkins at the No. 1 spot in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1. Hawkins is currently ranked at 129 in the ITA singles rankings. Penka Fileva won her match at No. 2 for the Lions, defeating Lisa D'Amelio in three (3-6, 6-4, 6-0). Edit Pakay, who earned her first-ever ITA singles ranking of 56, played at No. 3 for the Lions taking the three-set match from Simone Duhme (6-7, 6-1, 6-3). Angelina Zdorovytska played at No. 4, winning her straight-set match over Amilia Lincara (6-2, 6-3). Georgie Dinham decided her match at No. 5 in three sets, defeating Shari Gamarnik from Eastern Michigan (4-6, 6-3, 6-4). Jessica Placencia was the only Lion to have been defeating in doubles as Kendra Clark defeated the LMU freshman in straight sets (6-4, 6-4).
Eastern Michigan was able to get the doubles point in the match, however, as they swept the Lions.
The Lions will host UC Irvine on Thursday at the LMU Tennis Courts at 1:00 p.m. before the Lions head to Fresno State to face the 17th-ranked Bulldogs
