Final Stats

Los Angeles, Calif - On a cloudy Saturday morning at LMU Tennis Center, Loyola Marymount Women's Tennis (5-8) hosted No. 75 Louisville (8-7). After being down early, LMU made a triumphant comeback but it wasn't enough as the the Cardinals ended the Lions' 3 match-winning streak 4-3.

Louisville began the match by winning the doubles round. LMU lost all three matches. Jane Pringle and Bliss Nixon lost the No.1 position 8-5, Jasmin Heckel and Elisaveta Pironkova lost the No. 2 spot by the same score, and Tina Razloznik and Shauna Morgan lost the No. 3 position 8-4.

The Cardinals would continue their winning streak into the singles round. The Cardinals won the first three matches and the team victory. However, the match wasn't over for LMU. The Lions finished off the match with three consecutive victories.

In the No. 1 singles position Tina Razloznik started the streak. Razloznik won her third match in a row against U of L's Lindsey Jones, 6-2, 7-6 to improve to 7-6 in singles this season.

Jasmin Heckel and Elisaveta Pironkova finished off the Cardinals with back-to-back wins. In the No. 2 spot Heckel defeated Bianca Gorbea in straight sets 7-6, 7-6 for her fifth victory this spring. Elisaveta Pironkova continued her dominance in singles this season. Pironkova won her sixth straight match and her second straight in the No. 3 spot. The freshman from Bulgaria defeated Jo Ann Van Aerde 7-5, 7-5 for her team best 10-3 singles record.

 

 

Loyola Marymount Women's Tennis will travel back to northern California next weekend. The Lions will compete against WCC rivals Gonzaga, Saint Mary's, and Portland. The Lions will face the Bulldogs on Friday, take on the Gaels on Saturday, and finish off the weekend against the Pilots on Sunday. All matches are scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
