Women's Tennis Wins Third Straight Match
LMU defeated Saint Mary's 6-1 in second-straight conference win.

Los Angeles, CA - Playing in their second West Coast Conference match in two days, the Loyola Marymount University women's tennis team defeated the Saint Mary's Gaels 6-1 on Monday on the LMU Tennis Courts. The Lions improve to 9-8 on the season and 2-0 on WCC play with the win.
LMU was able to sweep the doubles point winning all three matches. The Lions No. 1 combo of Andrea Lord and Angelina Zdorovytska posted yet another stellar win defeating Valerie Verrier and Nicole Hunstock 8-0. Edit Pakay and Julie Hladik defeated Catalina Fillol and Megan Schulman at No. 2, 8-4. Penka Fileva and Jessica Placencia found success as well for the Lions, as they defeated Herndon Ortega and Annie Wolford at No. 3, 8-4.
Pakay played her third-straight match at No. 1 for the Lions defeating Wolford in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4. At No. 2 LMU sent Lord out to bring back the straight-set match with only one game lost (6-0, 6-1). Saint Mary's No. 3, Fillol was the only player of the Gaels' roster to get a win over the Lions, as she forced Fileva into a third set tie breaker and taking the win (6-3, 4-6, 10-7). Zdorovytska found her win at No. 4 over Hunstock in two (7-6, 6-2). LMU's Hladik defeated SMC's Schulman at No. 5 in straight sets (7-6, 6-2). Georgie Dinham rounded out the Lions lineup as she took the straight set win over Ortega, 6-3, 6-4.
LMU's women's tennis team will continue with conference play as they host Santa Clara on Wednesday, March 27 at 1:30 p.m.
