No. 17 Fresno State Tops LMU

The Loyola Marymount women's tennis team played their last match of the regular season Sunday at 17th-ranked Fresno State. The Bulldogs (14-7) swept the doubles point and carried their momentum into singles for a 6-1 win over the Lions (9-13).
Fresno State began the day with a bang, winning all three doubles matches. At the No. 1 spot, Melanie Gloria and Tinesat Rowe, ranked fourth nationally, defeated seniors Pavla Mesterova and Tamara Tanner, 8-3 freshmen Jasmin Heckel and Shauna Morgan lost to 30th-ranked Renata Kucerkova and Anastasia Petukova on court two, 8-2, and The Bulldogs' Danon Beatty and Jacqueline Haskett beat freshman Caroline Nothnagel and junior Tina Razloznik, 8-5.
The Lions got their only point of the day at No. 6 singles where Nothnagel defeated her opponent, Bruna Paes 6-0, 6-1.
The Bulldogs earned wins in five-of-six singles matches with No. 14 Gloria taking the match from 67th-ranked Mesterova at No 1 (6-0, 6-1), No. 21 Petukhova defeating Tanner at the No. 2 slot (6-0, 6-1), and Kucerkova beating Razloznik on court three (6-4, 6-4).
On courts four and five, Heckel lost to Rowe (6-3, 6-4) and Bulkley fell to Beatty in straight sets (6-1, 6-0).
LMU will head to Moraga, CA next weekend to participate in the WCC Championships April 18-20.
