Results

SPOKANE, Wash. -- LMU women’s tennis picked up its third consecutive WCC road win with a 4-3 victory at Gonzaga (9-7, 1-4 WCC) Friday. With a couple of key players coming back from injuries, the Lions (6-13, 3-3 WCC) regained their cohesion in doubles and split the singles round in the dual match.

April Bisharat and Claudia Razzeto closed the first doubles match with an impressive 8-1 victory over Prue Teitzel and Madeline Parker. Bisharat, who has been out with an injury which kept her out of the Lions’ prior two matches, looked sharp in her return. Ashley Anderson and Tory Parravi fell in #1 doubles, losing 8-7 (8-5 in tiebreaker) to Katie Edwards and Kristina Zauere. The point came down to court two where Elisaveta Pironkova and Reka Rohonyi defeated Kylie Peek and Sophie Lantta, 8-6, giving the Lions the doubles round.

LMU carried the momentum into singles. April Bisharat continued the Lions good form as she won at #1 singles defeating Prue Teitzel 6-2, 6-4. Kristina Zauere got the Bulldogs back into the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Claudia Razzeto. Elisaveta Pironkova fell to Kylie Peek 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 tying the match. Tory Parravi defeated Katie Edwards 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 which brought the Lions to the cusp of victory. Miya Jin, returning from an injury as well, defeated Sophie Lantta 3-6, 6-2, 6-2, giving the Lions the win. In the final singles contest, Reka Rohonyi fell Britta Stime 7-5, 4-6, 10-6 in a third set tiebreaker.

The Lions will look to extend the road winning streak Saturday at Portland. The match is scheduled to begin at noon.
