Miroshnichenko, Voracek Advance in Singles; Doubles Pairs Win

LMU women's tennis has two players still alive in the main draw of the 2017 ITA Southwest Regional, and two Lion pairs are still playing in the doubles bracket following Friday's competition from San Diego.

Freshmen Veronica Miroshnichenko and Eva Marie Voracek have reached the quarterfinal rounds of the singles bracket. Mirosnichenko, the 10th seed in the tournament, defeated Lise Sentenac, 6-4, 6-2, before topping sixth-seed Kelley Anderson, 6-0, 6-2 to reach the quarterfinals.

Voracek, the 14th-seed in the tournament, defeated Constance Branstine in the round of 32 before besting Terri Fleming from UCLA, 6-2, 6-0, to advance to quarterfinals.

In doubles, Anna Romeka and Siobhan Anderson beat #1 seed Ahmed/Lahey (Pepperdine), 8-2, to reach Saturday's quarterfinal round. Proving their worth in singles and doubles, Miroshnichenko and Voracek teamed to defeat Bendetti/Wiley (UCLA), 8-5, to also reach the quarterfinal round.

The Lions will continue their run in the ITA Southwest Regional on Saturday.
