Sophomore Miya Jin highlighted LMU women's tennis' play at the 2011 ITA Regional in San Diego, Calif. last weekend. Jin fell in the second round of the open draw before falling into the consolation bracket en route to reaching the quarterfinals.

Jin fell to top-seeded Danielle Lao of USC before defeating Cal State Fullerton's Malorie De la Cruz, 3-6, 6-0, 6-1, in the third round of the consolation bracket. From there, the native of Palos Verdes Estates, Calif. defeated Alicia Aguilar of San Diego State after Aguilar was forced to withdraw due to injury. Playing in the quarterfinal, Jin fell to sixth-seeded Carling Seguso, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.

Freshman Tory Parravi also performed strongly for LMU in the singles consolation bracket. Parravi defeated Rebecca Faltusz (6-0, 7-5) to advance to the fourth round where she fell to Holly Flemming (6-1, 6-2).

Jin and Parravi teamed to play in the doubles bracket as well, falling to Sarah Cantlay and Julie Luzar of Long Beach State, 8-3. From there, the duo fell into the super consolation bracket where they lost to UCSB's Meehan and Scatliffe in a tough match, 9-7. The pair finished play against Hawai'i's Rebecca Faltusz and Aglae Van Den Bergh, losing 8-6.

Women's tennis will return to action on October 28 when it participates at the Jack Kramer Tennis Club Fall Invitational.
