On Saturday, January 25, the LMU women's tennis team will open its spring season at home against Concordia University from the Golden State Athletic Conference. It is now Jamie Sanchez's 39th season as head coach of the team as he looks to get the Lions back to a top spot in the West Coast Conference.

Concordia University is also coached by a Sanchez: Jamie's nephew Jonathon, who is in his fourth season at the helm of the Concordia women's tennis program. The Lions also opened the 2013 spring season with Concordia, a match they won 7-0.

The Lions will feature five new players this spring, including Lauri Mueller, a native of Heidenburg, Germany who enters the season nationally ranked at No. 97 in the ITA Preseason Ranking. Newcomers Jessica Perez, Julia Norlin and Ellie Grossman have also played well, getting some experience as Lions in the fall season.

Returning for the Lions is Miya Jin, one of two seniors on the Lions squad this spring. Jin found much success in the fall tournaments and has some momentum moving into her final season this spring. Sophomore Kristine Kouyoumjian is also a key returner for the Lions, who will be back in action Saturday.
