Los Angeles, Calif. - Loyola Marymount men and women's tennis will each face a pair of opponents on the road this weekend, as the Lions continue their challenging 2005 schedules.
The women (0-2) begin the weekend Friday at 1:30, facing 39th-ranked Arizona (3-0) in Tucson. They will remain at UofA through Sunday, where they will then face their first West Coast Conference opponent of the season in No. 51 San Diego (0-0). LMU and San Diego last met in the semifinals of the 2004 WCC Championship, with San Diego posting a 4-1 win. Both the Wildcats and the Toreros moved up three places in this week's ITA Rankings.
The LMU men (0-1) head to Las Vegas for the weekend and will take on host UNLV (0-2) Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. and Northern Arizona (0-3) at 10:00 on Sunday. All three programs will be in search of the season's first dual win, including the Lions who were edged 5-2 last weekend against a tough 56th-ranked Fresno State squad.
Both squads will look to start their road swings with victories this weekend, as they remain on the road until the men's first home match on Thursday, February 17 against UC San Diego.
