LOS ANGELES -- Following back-to-back winning weekend invitationals, the Lions travel to San Diego this weekend looking to carry the positive momentum as the team will compete in the annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Tournament. Six Lions will be competing in the Southwest regional hosted by San Diego State University, taking place at the Barnes Tennis Center in Point Loma which is also home to the West Coast Conference Championships in 2013.

Representing LMU throughout the weekend will be senior April Bisharat, sophomore Tory Parravi, juniors Miya Jin, Claudia Razzeto, and Reka Rohonyi, along with freshman Kristine Kouyoumjian. This group will be competing in the singles main draw as well as the doubles main draw. The first round for both draws begins Thursday with the round of 128 for singles and the round of 64 in doubles play.

The tournament will include players from many of the teams LMU will face in their spring 2013 schedule, including WCC rivals Pepperdine and the University of San Diego.

The team began its fall schedule until earlier this month and has been efficient in their first two tournaments. Starting the season at the Cal State Fullerton Tournament, the Lions performed well across the board, led by Parravi’s win in the top-flight singles competition.

Last week, the team went to Tennessee for the Memphis Invitational, where the team went 13-5 in singles and 7-2 in doubles against the University of Memphis, Drake University, and the University of Tennessee at Martin.

The five-day ITA Regional tournament begins Thursday, Oct. 18.
