Women's Tennis Back From ITA West Regional
Oct. 30, 2003 Patrycia Hubl and Diana Vinis advanced through the qualifying rounds last Thursday, Oct. 23 to join Carla Arguelles in the main draw of the 2003 ITA Women's Western Regional Championships. Arguelles was the lone LMU player to advance defeating UC Santa Barbara's Jenny Kuhle in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.
In the qualifying rounds, Serena Fermin defeated Cal State Fullerton's Mai-Ly Tran (6-0, 6-3), but lost in Round 2 to San Diego State's Aleysa Vidov (6-2, 7-5).
Both doubles teams that competed in the tournament for the Lions lost. The team of Huble and Fermin lost to Long Beach State's Chan and Rocha, 8-4 in the qualifying round. The Lion duo of Kimi Kaloi and Arguelles lost to Pepperdine's Braverman and Asimgil in a closely contested match (8-6).
The Lions have concluded their fall season and will open their spring season hosting Portland State on Jan. 7 at 11 a.m. on the LMU Tennis Courts.
