LMU will open WCC play at rival Pepperdine on Saturday at 1 pm.
LMU will travel to UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly on Friday and Saturday before hosting San Diego State Sunday.
AT LMU 2006... earned All-WCC recognition for the third straight year and made it back-to-back first-team selections... finished the year among the nation's best in service aces (54th with 0.50) and kills (91st with 4.09) per game... also ranked ninth in the WCC in digs per game (3.27)... led LMU with 19 statistical double-doubles... named MVP of both the Miami Hurricane Invitational and the LMU Four Points Sheraton LAX Classic... also an all-tournament selection at the Hilton Sun Devil Classic... was the WCC Player of the Month in September and a two-time WCC Player of the Week... recorded her 1,000 career kill on Oct. 14 against San Francisco... posted a season-high 25 kills in five-game loss at UC Santa Barbara... had a season-high 25 digs at Arizona State... 2005... a first-team All-WCC selection... was the 2005-06 LMU Co-Female Athlete of the Year... named to the LMU Four Points Sheraton Classic All-Tournament team after the Lions won the title... named to the Sacramento State All-Tournament team after the Lions were named runners-up... earned her third all-tournament selection of the season at the Hawthorne Suites Cal State Fullerton Invitational as LMU won the title... named WCC Player of the Week after leading LMU to a win over 20th-ranked San Diego... was the only WCC player to record a triple-double on the season and did it five times... along with teammate Christianna Reneau, led the WCC with 18 double-doubles... 2004... received All-WCC honorable mention recognition... led team with 42 service aces and ranked second with 2.95 kills per game... put up a double-double effort in her first collegiate performance when she tallied 10 kills and 11 digs in 3-1 win over Duke... had her second career double-double with 10 digs and 14 kills against Washington State... represented LMU on the all-tournament team at the Furama Hotel Invite... had 10 kills against Miami... tallied two service aces against top-ranked Minnesota... led the Lions with 16 kills against UCLA... led the Lions with 14 kills and a .600 hitting percentage in 3-0 win over Villanova... tallied 21 kills against Saint Mary's... added 18 kills and 12 digs, with nine kills in game one alone, in the Lions' 3-1 win over UC Santa Barbara... tallied 13 kills and 17 digs in LMU's regular season finale against CSUN...
HIGH SCHOOL a 2004 graduate of Fallbrook High School in Fallbrook, Calif... was a USA Volleyball junior national team alternate and an A-2 team member... served as captain at Fallbrook during her junior and senior seasons... was a three-time All-Avocado League selection... earned All-CIF recognition in back-to-back seasons... named all-state by CalHiSports both her junior and senior seasons... played club volleyball for Epic and Coach Ozhan...
PERSONAL Heather Lee Hughes was born in Oceanside, Calif., on June 22, 1986... the daughter of Lori and Bill Hughes... has one sister, Kristen, who played volleyball at Cornell, and a younger brother Taylor... also recruited by USC, Pepperdine, San Diego, Santa Clara, and UC Santa Barbara... major is communication studies.
