BRIEFLY Whitney Leonard is in her second season with LMU volleyball... is the person to beat for the starting libero spot after earning WCC All-Freshman team accolades... coaches describe her as a very talented player and expect her to have an outstanding season...

AT LMU 2007... a WCC All-Freshman selection... played in 25 matches and 94 games on the season... recorded a team-high 426 digs to the tune of a 4.53 digs/game average, good for third overall in the WCC and first amongst freshmen players... her 4.98 digs/game in conference play alone placed her second overall... collected a season-best 33 digs against then-No. 19 USD on November 8, the third-best mark by any player in the WCC...

HIGH SCHOOL a 2007 graduate of Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, Calif... a 2006 first-team AVCA High School Senior All-America selection... twice earned All-West Catholic Athletic League honors... served as team captain her senior year for coach Bret Almazen-Cezar... was a silver medalist and an All-Tournament selection at the 17-open Junior Olympics in 2005... was a high school teammate of current LMU teammate Erin Downey...

PERSONAL Whitney Kolar Leonard was born October 31, 1988, in San Jose, Calif... daughter of Saundra and Peter Leonard... father played tennis at Santa Clara... has a younger brother, Colby, and two older sisters, Courtnay and Brittany... Courtnay played volleyball for LMU from 2003-2004, and Brittany currently plays volleyball for Arizona... was also recruited by San Diego, Texas, and Florida State... a communications studies major.
