Janice Mounts

Janice Mounts will join the Loyola Marymount women's volleyball program as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2005 season. Mounts comes to LMU after serving as the assistant coach at Cal State Bakersfield. After a stellar career at USC, Mounts shared her knowledge with the CSUB bench during the 2004 season. A Bakersfield native, she enrolled at Cal State Bakersfield, completing pre-requisites for admission to medical school. Los Angeles area volleyball fans will remember Mounts as the Trojans' all-time career assists leader, as she tallied 4,258 assists during her 1995-1998 career. She also holds the USC all-time career assists per game mark at 13.22. The four-year letterwinner and three-time captain, set the USC record for assists in a three-game match with 78 against Washington State in 1996. In her senior season at USC, Mounts tallied 1,490 assists with a 15.05 apg average, both tops on the Trojans' single season list, earning her all-region and AVCA All-District honors for 1998. Mounts played for Highland High School in Bakersfield, having her jersey retired at the end of her career. She was named the MVP of the All-American All-Stars match and played for the US Junior Olympic team in 1995. Mounts graduated from USC with a degree in gerontology in 1998. |
