2009... served as the starting setter virtually all season despite injury... dished out 778 assists, averaging 8.37 per set, to lead the team in that category... managed 10 double-doubles, one less than the leader in the WCC for that category... notched a team-high 54 assists against Idaho on September 4... appeared in 26 of LMU's 29 matches as a sophomore, totaling 93 sets played... ranked third in the West Coast Conference in assists overall, while her 309 assists in WCC matches alone placed fifth... notched 55 kills and 234 digs, good for second on the team... averaged 2.52 digs per set... a career-high two of her 12 service aces came on September 18 versus Cal State Bakersfield... team-best 27 digs came against Cal State Northridge on September 15... named TCU Nike/Molten Invitational All-Tournament after posting 103 assists at a rate of 10.30 per set... also collected 12 kills on 18 attacks with no errors for a .667 hitting percentage, helping guide LMU to the Tournament Championship... named to the Hilton Stockton Invitational All-Tournament team after finishing the three matches with 95 assists as the Lions hit .270 as a team... also notched seven kills on 15 attacks for a .400 hitting percentage, teaming that mark with three service aces and 18 digs...
2008... appeared in 18 matches, starting five, as a freshman... finished second on the team in assists, passing out 167 at a rate of 3.63 per set... served-up five aces... averaged 1.46 digs per set en route to totaling 67 on the year... had a season-best night against Yale on November 29, notching three kills on six attacks and dishing-out 47 assists... season-high 12 digs came against Central Arkansas on August 30... collected 58 assists and 17 digs in West Coast Conference play... three of her five total service aces came against WCC foes...
A 2008 graduate of Newport Harbor High School in Newport Beach, Calif... was a four-year varsity letterwinner... garnered first team All-League recognition after her junior and senior years, and second team accolades as a freshman... named League MVP as a senior... led her team to the Sunset League Championship and the CIF Playoffs in all four years, including the CIF Semi-Finals as a senior... named All-CIF Southern Section after her final campaign... part of the 2007 Volleyball Festival Club Volleyball Champions in the 18's Division... was a member of the Orange County Volleyball Club team...
Alesha Christine Young was born July 5, 1990, in Newport Beach, Calif... daughter of Jamie and Taras Young... father played basketball at Cal State Fullerton... has one brother, Taylor... also recruited by Cal Poly and Chico State, but chose LMU because of the volleyball team and the size of the school... is undecided on a major.
