Volleyball Falls To No. 15 Pepperdine, 3-1

Los Angeles, Calif., Saturday,Oct. 6, 2001 - The Loyola Marymount women's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss(30-28, 28-30, 30-23, 30-26) to No. 15 Pepperdine on Saturday night at the Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu, Calif. Junior Kristen Gallup led all hitters on the night with 25 kills.
The Lions fall to 8-5 overall and 2-1 in the West Coast Conference with the loss while Pepperdine improves to 8-2 and 3-0 in the WCC.
Along with Gallup, sophomore Kealani Kimball and freshman Dina DeBernardi also hit double-digit kills totals. Kimball recorded a double-double for the Lions as she collected 18 kills and 10 digs. DeBernardi hit a team-leading clip of .450 with 10 kills on 20 attacks and committing just one error. Kimball hit .361 for the night and also shined defensively as well. She and freshman Jody Carlson feverishly guarded the night each picking up a season-best five blocks.
The Lions return to action on Friday, Oct. 12 when they host Santa Clara in Gersten Pavilion at 7 p.m.
