No. 19 Volleyball Knocks Off Gonzaga 3-0
Lions earn 21st straight victory over Gonzaga.

SPOKANE, Wash. - No. 19 Loyola Marymount (19-3, 4-1 WCC) concluded its third week of West Coast action undefeated after taking care of Gonzaga (3-19, 0-6 WCC) Saturday evening 3-0. Junior Kelli Nerison led the Lions to their 21st consecutive program victory over the Bulldogs with 16 kills and 10 blocks.
The Lions made quick work of Gonzaga, who was five points away from defeating No. 6 Pepperdine on Friday evening, with a 30-16, 30-18, 30-16 victory.
Nerison connected for a match-high 16 kills, while Tiana Newsome added 10 kills on a .769 attacking percentage as LMU pounded out 53 kills on the night. Nerison now leads the WCC in hitting percentage, hitting .406 on the season, and ranks second in blocks per game (1.36).
The Lions finished with a .348 attack percentage, making only 14 attacking errors during the three-game match. Setter Nicole Oehlman paced the LMU attack, with 36 of the 46 LMU assists. Senior Kealani Kimball was the defensive star with 16 digs, as the Lions held Gonzaga to a .019 match hitting effort.
Gonzaga was never able to get its offense on track, as the Bulldogs were limited to only six kills during the game one loss. In contrast, the Lions had three players end the match hitting better than .450 in Newsome, Oehlman, and Nerison.
Saturday's victory concluded the Lions' three match road trip. The No. 19 Lions return to Gersten Pavilion on Friday, October 24th when they host No. 14 Santa Clara (14-6, 5-0 WCC) at 7:00 p.m. The Broncos will bring their undefeated WCC record to square off with LMU's unblemished home record, as the Lions are 10-0 in Gersten Pavilion this season.
