Sophomore Tess Reid and Assistant Coach Natalie Morgan will represent LMU on the national stage at the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts from Friday, March 2 through Sunday, March 4 in Colorado Springs, Colo. Reid is one of 234 student-athletes from 89 different colleges who will compete for a spot on the U.S. Women's National Team and U.S. Collegiate National Team at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.
Reid, one of 43 setters set to try out, appeared in all 29 of LMU's matches this year, starting 16. The native of Lenexa, Kan. dished out 555 assists at a rate of 5.14 per set. Reid proved to be a threat from the service area, posting 37 aces to place second on the team and help guide LMU to 202.
Morgan will assist the USA staff with data volley entry throughout the try out process. Morgan recently completed her first season on staff after being hired in February 2017 by Head Coach Aaron Mansfield. Morgan came to LMU from the University of Nebraska, where she served as the Technical Coordinator for the Huskers since 2014.
Morgan has previous experience with USA volleyball, working with the 2016 USA National Team and Pan Am Cup Teams as they prepared for international competition. Building her skill set, she served as a Technical Assistant at the Women's National Team tryouts and as a Technical Coordinator with the Collegiate National Team in 2015.
The Lions went 16-13 in 2017, including a 9-9 mark in the WCC.
