Junior setter Tess Reid and the 2018 U.S. Collegiate National Team Detroit squad will open play from the Cobo Arena on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Reid, one of four setters on the team, was named to the 24-player squad in April.

The CNT-Detroit squad, which is part of USA Volleyball’s High Performance pipeline and is considered a second tryout for the U.S. Women’s National Team, completes training on Tuesday at the University of Michigan and the players will be assigned to one of two 12-member teams that will play three exhibition matches against each other at the Cobo Center on June 27, June 28 and June 30. The matches are being held in conjunction with the USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships under the same roof.

Reid finished the 2017 season second on the team in aces at 37, averaging .34 per set. Splitting time running the offense, she accumulated 555 assists to average 5.14 per set. On the defensive side of the ball, the native of Lenexa, Kan. posted 189 digs.
