LOS ANGELES - Loyola Marymount women's volleyball, led by third-year head coach Tom Black, will open its season on Saturday by welcoming former Lion volleyball players to Gersten Pavilion for some friendly competition. The annual Alumnae Match is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.

Nearly a dozen alumnae from the program are expected to return to Gersten Pavilion for this year's clash. The alumnae will take on the 2012 Lions, giving the current squad its first taste of competition this season.

Alumnae scheduled to return include Kerry (House) Hughes (1989-90), Tracy (Holman) Duffy (1994-97), Kristen (Gallup) Braman (1999-02), Jacene Dimson (2001-04), Nicole Oehlman (2000-04), Heather Hughes (2004-07), Emily Day (2005-08), Megan Nash (2006-10), Diana Hiromoto (2008-11) and Jasmine Rankins (2008-11). Lindsey Breeden will once again serve as the coach for the team, and any former Lion women's volleyball player is welcome to attend and play in the match.

Admission into the match is free. The match will serve as a tune-up for the current Lions, who open the 2012 regular season on Friday, August 24, when they host the DoubleTree Los Angeles Westside Invitational featuring UConn, UC Santa Barbara and Iona College.
