At LMU: Newsome enters her first season in the Lions' program.

High School: Newsome is a 2000 graduate of Centennial High School in Peoria, AZ...a three-year varsity letterwinner in volleyball...served as team captain of the squad as a senior...a two-time All-Citrus League selection as a sophomore and junior, All-West Valley League pick as a senior...led team in blocks all four years...named West Valley Region Player of the Year and All-State second team pick in 1999...led her team to the league championship in the 1998 season with a 30-1 record...competed in track as junior and earned a varsity letter...prep volleyball coach was Diane Pavia.

Personal: Tiana Marie Newsome was born in Riverside, CA on April 1, 1982...the daughter of Larry and Michelle Newsome...she has one brother, Brandon, and one sister, Taryn...was also recruited by Georgia Tech, Oregon State and Michigan...a club teammate of Jaimee Brubacher...lists poetry, singing and dancing as her hobbies...names the Green Bay Packers of the NFL as her favorite professional team...a psychology major with plans on becoming a clinical psychologist.
