Quest for Three-Peat Begins Friday

LMU women’s water polo will begin their quest for a third straight Golden Coast Conference Tournament Championship on Friday when they face a familiar foe. The Lions will open as the fourth seed and will take on fifth-seeded Santa Clara at 3 pm at San Diego State’s Aztec Aquaplex.

Four Lions Earn Conference Honors

LMU senior Ivana Castro became the first player in the young three-year history of the Golden Coast Conference to earn First-Team All-GCC honors in each of the first three seasons. Castro highlights four Lions to earn postseason conference honors, which was released by the GCC on Tuesday.

LMU women’s water polo recognized five seniors playing in their final home game on Saturday at the Burns Aquatics Center. The 20th-ranked Lions would fall to 25th-ranked CSUN, 9-7.

Finale to Honor Record-Setting Senior Class

The 20th-ranked LMU women’s water polo team will host 25th-ranked CSUN on Saturday, Apr. 23 at 12 noon in the final game of the regular season. However, it is more than a match-up against the nationally ranked. It will be the home finale of five members of the Lions.

LMU women’s water polo used their entire roster in a 12-6 win over Concordia in the final Golden Coast Conference match-up of the regular season for both team in Irvine, Calif., on Thursday afternoon.

Water Polo Falls in Defensive Affair

Defense ruled the third Golden Coast Conference match-up between new rivals LMU and San Diego State. And the 14th-ranked Aztecs found enough offense to earn a 6-4 win over the 19th-ranked Lions on Saturday afternoon at the Aztec Aquaplex.

Lions Head South for Key GCC Game

There is just one game on the schedule for 19th-ranked LMU women’s water polo this week, and it’s a big one. The Lions will head south as they take on 14th-ranked San Diego State on Saturday at 1 pm.
