Briefly... Nicole Hughes is in her final season of collegiate water polo at LMU and has re-written the record book at LMU... named second-team ACWPCA All-American after a school record 90 goals in 2008... she enters the NCAA tournament scoring a goal in a school record 67 straight games... she became first Lion to score more than 300 goals and enters NCAAs the school's all-time leader in goals for a career with 312, a season with her 121 this year and in a game with eight, doing it twice this season... from Golden Bear Water Polo Club coached by Peter Asch...

At LMU... 2009... named WWPA Player of the Year... named WWPA first-team All-Conference... named WWPA Tournament MVP... led league with school-best 121 goals... scored two or more goals in 30 of the 32 games this season... set the record for goals in a game with eight against Princeton on Mar. 15 and then did it again against CS Bakersfield on April 4... also has 21 assists, 78 kicokouts drawn and 54 steals... she set a personal best in every stats category as a senior except field blocks... she was named WWPA Player of the Week twice for having 21 and 24-goal weekends... she scored 14 in the three games at the WWPA tournament... 2008... in addition to All-America honors, Hughes was named first-team All-WWPA and first-team WWPA All-Tournament... she finished the season with a school record 90 goals on just 164 shots (54.9 shooting percentage)... added 17 assists, 38 steals and a team-high 67 drawn ejections... tied the school record with seven goals in the win over CSUSB in WWPA first-round (4/25/08)... scored a goal in every game scored more than one goal in 24 of the 31 games she played in... she had three five-goal games, five four-goal games and 11 three-goal games... 2007... exploded in her second season with 66 goals, second best on the team... she added 42 kick-outs drawn and 33 steals... scored in 29 of LMU's 34 games... had a career high five goals in win over Long Beach State (3/29/07) and Wagner in the NCAA tournament (5/12/07)... finished with 10 goals in the NCAA tournament, tying Stacia Peterson for most in a single tournament... had 23 multiple goal games including a stretch of 17 goals in seven games from Mar. 2 through Mar. 18... 2006... had an impressive first collegiate season as she played in all 30 games as a true freshmen, just one of five players to do so in 2006... scored 35 goals on just 73 shots (47.9 percent)... added 13 steals, 21 kick-outs and four assists... scored in 23 of 30 games in first season... scored three goals against Cal State Bakersfield (3/24/06), Indiana (4/9/06) and in the WWPA title game against UC Davis (4/30/06)...

High School... graduated from Acalanes High School (Lafayette, CA) in 2005 with a 3.5 GPA... played and earned letters all four years for coach Dan Bledsoe... also swam all four years with four more letters... in water polo was a two-time fourth-team All-American... she earned first-team All-North Coast League honors as a junior and senior while earning third-team honors as a sophomore... was a three-time first-team all-league selection... in four years she scored 209 goals with 69 assists and 217 steals... was the league Co-MVP as a senior... was a three-time North Coast Scholar-Athlete...

Personal... Nicole Marie Hughes was born in Centralia, WA... she is the daughter of Marilyn and Greg Hughes... has a brother, Jason... a Graphic Design major and Business minor.
