SAN DIEGO – For the first time in conference history, the San Diego State Aztecs lost a Golden Coast Conference game. Loyola Marymount (11-10, 2-0 GCC) jumped ahead 4-0 and defeated San Diego State (5-9, 1-1 GCC), 5-2.

In a defensive first half, the Lions scored the game’s only goal in the first two periods, thanks to the first of three from Daniela Hernandez

The lead grew to 4-0 at the start of the third quarter before SDSU added two late to end the period.

LMU buckled down defensively once again in the fourth quarter, allowing no goals and scoring an extra to make the final score, 5-2.

Joining Hernandez’s three goals, were one apiece by Morgan Molloy and reigning GCC Player of the Week Hana Vilanova

This was San Diego State’s first GCC loss in 28 games since joining the conference.

The Lions will now take a break from their conference schedule to host the two-day LMU Invitational at Burns Aquatic Center on March. 16-17. Visit the Tournament Central page for more information.
