March 26, 2010
LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- LMU women's water polo one-upped Brown in every quarter to earn an 11-7 win in non-conference action at the Burns Recreation and Aquatics Center on Friday afternoon. The Lions have won 13 straight, equalling a program record they set in 2003 and 2005, and have improved to 18-2 on the year.
It is the best start in program history for the Lions, who outscored Brown by one goal in every quarter for the four-goal win. Brown falls to 12-5 on the year.
Five different players scored a pair of goals for the Lions while Brown's Lauren Presant led all scorers with three.
Daisy Carrillo and Mary Ann Campos scored their goals in the first half as the Lions took a 6-4 lead at the break. Erin Make scored one in the second and one in the third, while Kimberely Benedetti scored her goals in the first and third quarters as LMU held a 9-6 lead after the third period.
LMU will look to set the winning streak mark when they take on No. 6 San Jose State on Saturday at 12 noon.
