Lions Get Pair of Saturday Wins

LOS ANGELES -LMU women's water polo concluded play within the Golden Coast Conference with a 13-5 win over Azusa Pacific on Saturday afternoon. The Lions also picked up a 16-3 non-conference win over Chapman, improving to 19-11 overall and 5-1 in the GCC.

The Lions finish conference play will have just one more game before the first GCC Championships on Apr. 24-26 at the Burns Aquatics Center. LMU will travel to UC Irvine on Apr. 18 at 4 pm.

Against conference foe Azusa Pacific, the Lions led 1-0 after the first period, but broke the game open by scoring 10 of the game's next 12 goals. Senior Alexandra Honny had five goals to lead the Lions.

Against Chapman, the Lions led 10-0 before the Panthers scored and they never looked back. This time is was Laura Lopez leading the Lions with five goals.
