Lions Can't Find Second Half Answer

LOS ANGELES -- The 11th-ranked LMU women's water polo team couldn't answer the second half push of the fourth-ranked UCLA Bruins, falling 12-5 at Spieker Aquatics Center on Friday night. The Lions fall to 17-10 on the season while UCLA improves to 22-4.

Alexandra Honny led the Lions with three goals, including a pair in the second. Danielle Johnson and Laura Lopez scored the other two goals while goalie Claire Wright had seven saves.

UCLA jumped ou to a 3-0 lead and never trailed by less than two the rest of the way. The Lions cut the lead to 5-3 on Honny's second goal, but UCLA scored with just 17 seconds left in the half to go back up three.

The Lions continue their tough stretch with No. 2 Stanford at the Burns Aquatics Center on Sunday at 12 noon. It will be the Cardinal's first trip to LMU.
