LOS ANGELES -- LMU's defense and the two graduating seniors came up big in the final regular season game of the 2013 campaign, earning an 11-1 win over Occidental on Senior Day at the Burns Aquatics Center on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Jessica Morelos and Morgan Bonk - playing in their final home game - scored two goals each and the Lions allowed just one goal themselves to improve to 18-12 overall on the season.

The Lions finished the season 6-1 in Western Water Polo Association play, and earned the No. 2 seed for the upcoming 2013 WWPA Women's Championships at Santa Clara's Sullivan Aquatics Center. The Lions will face No. 7 seed Cal State East Bay on Friday, Apr. 26 at 12:30 p.m.

"Our defense played well today and it was a good way to send Morgan and Jessica off at home," said Head Coach Kyle Witt. "But we have a lot of unfinished business coming up and we will continue to work each day to get better."

Junior Alexandra Honny scored five goals and freshman goalie Claire Wright had nine saves. Since returning from injury Mar. 16, Wright and the Lions have allowed just 3.4 goals per contest in their last nine wins with their only setbacks coming to the top-six teams in the nation.

The Lions scored the first 10 goals of the game before Occidental scored with 3:29 to play.
