LOS ANGELES -- With the 2013 season beginning Saturday, Lions' All-Access continues its Inside the Lions look at the LMU women's water polo team as it prepares to defend its 2012 conference title. Up next is sophomore Mackenzie Beck.

Following the footsteps of her father who played on the first water polo team at LMU and those of her older sister who coaches water polo, Beck has leaned on her family to help guide her into college.

And in her first year, Beck turned some heads, including a four-goal performance in the WWPA Championship game to lift the Lions over UC San Diego and to their ninth WWPA title. She finished with 30 goals and was a WWPA All-Freshman and first-team WWPA All-Tournament selection.

However, it was her lessons on what it means to be a teammate and playing as a team she found most valuable in her first season. Check out the entire interview on Lions' All-Access.

LMU will open their season on Saturday, Jan. 19 when they host the LMU Opening Weekend Tournament. They will face Cal Baptist at 10:30 a.m., before playing Cal State San Bernardino (12 noon) and Cal Baptist (3 pm) in exhibition games later in the day. The special Season Ticket Scarf is available for the Lions' 2013 season, visit LMU Tickets for more information.
