LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Senior Mary Ann Campos led LMU women's water polo to a 4-1 opening weekend to start the 2011 season, all away from home and four coming against ranked opponents. The 2010 All-American netted 12 goals on her way to the Western Water Polo Association Women's Player of the Week for Jan. 26.

Campos added five assists and three steals to lead the Lions to a 4-1 start the season and earn the first WWPA Women's Player of the Week honor for 2011.

Campos scored five goals in the win over Colorado State, and then added three in the win over No. 7 San Jose State, two in the win over No. 13 Indiana and two in the win over No. 15 Cal State Northridge.

The Lions remain ranked sixth in the nation in the latest coaches' poll. Stanford, USC, Cal, UCLA and Hawaii are the five sitting in front of the Lions, while Michigan, Arizona State, San Jose State and UC Irvine round out the top-10.

After the earliest start in program history, the Lions will go nearly three weeks before playing again, traveling to the UC San Diego Triton Invitational Feb. 12-13.
