LOS ANGELES – For the second time this season, Loyola Marymount women’s water polo’s Hana Vilanova has been named Golden Coast Conference Player of the Week, the conference announced on Thursday. Vilanova also received the weekly recognition on Feb. 15, as well as once in 2017.

Vilanova led LMU to a 9-3 dominant win in the team’s first conference game of the season. The LMU junior scored as many goals, three, as the entire Bulldogs team to put the Lions at 1-0 in GCC play. Vilanova scored the game’s first goal putting the Lions ahead for good. She followed that opening goal with one more in each of the next two quarters. She also added a game-high two assists, giving her points in all-four quarters. Vilanova finished with a team-high two steals to defeat the No. 24 team in the country.

Ranked 12th in the national poll, LMU is set to continue conference play with a game Friday at San Diego State. Both the Aztecs and Lions are 1-0 to begin GCC competition.
