LOS ANGELES - About halfway through her sophomore season, Ivana Castro has taken off and she credits her teammates for helping her navigate the transition from freshman to sophomore. And she isn't done learning yet.

Castro, who is second on the team in goals with 29, sat down with LMU Sports Network to talk about her freshman season, the lessons she brought with her into this second season and the role her teammates played in that transition.

Of her 29 goals, she has scored 16 of them in an eight-game goal scoring streak. She had a hat-trick against No. 2 UCLA and then had two more in a big win over No. 13 Hawaii last week. She is also third on the team with 21 steals and has added 14 assists.

Castro and the Lions will have another busy week on their hands, including the second Golden Coast Conference game of the season when they host California Baptist on Thursday, Mar. 13 at 4 pm.

The Lancers improved to 10-8 on the season with an 11-3 win over Bucknell on Tuesday. They fell to San Diego State, 6-5, in their only GCC game of the season.

LMU will then head to the CBU campus to play in the first day of the Lancer Invitational II on Friday, Mar. 14. They will face Iona at 10:20 am and then La Verne at 3:40 pm.

The Lions will then return home to end the week hosting No. 5 Cal on Sunday, Mar. 16 at 12 noon.
