LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- It began in 2001 as a way for LMU women's water polo to get more games against Western Water Polo Association foes. As the annual LMU Invitational enters its 11th year, its reach has grown. What was just six teams playing in a round robin as grown to as many as 20 teams in recent years.

This season, the Lions will host the seven-team, 14-game tournament Friday and Saturday, March 18-19 at the Burns Recreation and Aquatics Center.

The Lions will welcome WWPA foes Colorado State, Sonoma State and Cal State San Bernardino. Also joining the tournament field this year will be #18 Princeton, #10 Long Beach State and Whittier. The Lions will open with Colorado State in Game No. 4 at 12:45 p.m., followed by Whittier in Game No. 7 at 4:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the Lions will take on a pair of ranked foes in No. 10 Long Beach State at 10:15 a.m., followed by No. 18 Princeton in the final game of the tournament at 4:30 p.m.
