Water Polo Championship at LMU Begin Thursday
Inaugural GCC Championship bracket set as action begins April 24 at Burns Recreation and Aquatics Center.

LOS ANGELES -The inaugural season of the Golden Coast Conference comes to a close, and will do so with the 2014 GCC Championships hosted by Loyola Marymount University at the Burns Recreation and Aquatics Center on April 24-26 in Los Angeles. Seedings for the first-ever GCC Championship are set and action begins Thursday at 12 pm.
The Lions are the No. 2 seed and finished the regular season at 19-12 overall after a 13-4 setback at No. 6 UC Irvine on Friday. The Lions are 5-1 in the GCC. The Lions will face the No. 7 seed Fresno Pacific (8-21, 0-6) in game two of the first round at 1:30 pm.
Regular season champion San Diego State earned the number one seed thanks to their perfect 6-0 conference record. They enter the tournament at 22-11 overall.
The Aztecs earn a bye to the semifinals on Friday and will take on the winner of the first round's game three, which features the No. 4 seed California Baptist and No. 5 seed Pacific. The Lancers finished at 3-3 on the season while Pacific finished 2-4. CBU (20-10) earned a 10-9 sudden-death overtime victory over Pacific (12-16) on March 29. They will play in the final game of the opening round at 3 pm.
Rounding out the field is No. 3 seed Santa Clara (15-11, 4-2) taking on No. 6 seed Azusa Pacific (14-19, 1-5). The Broncos claimed the three-seed with a 15-14 win over California Baptist in the final GCC game of the season on Thursday.
