Women's Water Polo Earns Three Commitments
June 7, 2007 Los Angeles, CA (June 6) - Loyola Marymount women's water polo, who finished the 2007 season ranked seventh in the nation, signed three high school standouts to National Letters of Intent, Head Coach John Loughran announced on Wednesday. Mary Ann Campos (Whittier High School), Katlin Sherrin (Long Beach Wilson High School) and Erin Sandford (Dos Pueblos High School) will all enroll at LMU starting this fall. After finishing 27-7 with their sixth Western Water Polo Association championship in seven years, the Lions will reload with this year's recruiting class that features two All-Americans. "We are excited to have signed these four players to play here at LMU," said Head Coach John Loughran. "All four come from successful high school and club programs and will have the opportunity to make an impact here at LMU." Campos comes from Whittier High School and played for the Commerce club team. She was the 2007 CIF Division III Player of the Year and was named honorable mention Junior Olympic All-American in 2006. Joining Campos on that same All-American as honorable mention selections was Sandford. Sandford plays for the Santa Barbara club team and comes from Dos Pueblos High School. She was Division II first-team All-CIF selections and a first-team All-Channel League selection. Sherrin comes from the Long Beach Shores club program and graduated from Long Beach Wilson High School. The two-meter defender held lead her team to the state quarterfinals, losing to Romero and Montebello, 13-12, in double overtime. Sherrin helped Wilson to a ranking of No. 5 this season.
