Trio of Lions Playing in PanAm Games
Daisy Carrillo, Mary Ann Campos and Diana Romero will play for Team Mexico in 2011 Pan American Games.

GUADALAJARA, Mexico - LMU's Daisy Carrillo, Mary Ann Campos and Diana Romero were selected to compete for Mexico's national women's water polo team at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, with competition beginning Sunday at the Scotiabank Aquatics Center.
They opened with an 8-5 setback to Brazil then came back to defeat Venezuela, 17-7, on Monday. In the win over Venezuela, Daisy Carillo had three goals, an assist and a steal in 25 minutes of action. Campos had a goal in 17 minutes while Romero played 10 minutes at two-meter defense.
The trio graduated in May of 2011 after helping the Lions win more than 90 games in their four-year careers. They were a part of two titles and helped the Lions advance to the NCAA semifinals after knocking off five-time defending national champion UCLA in 2010.
Campos finished her career the fifth best scorer in LMU history with 190 goals. She also ranks 10th with 58 assists and 15th with 100 steals. As for Carrillo, she finished fifth in just three years with 76 assists and 19th with 69 goals. Romero, who play in a program best 135 games, finished eighth with 126 goals, 15th with 42 assists, 10th with 128 steals and 6th with 366 shot attempts.
The 16th annual Pan American Games will be the largest multi-sport event to take place outside of the nation's capital of Mexico City. It features 42 countries, and the water polo competitions will feature 208 athletes and will take place Oct. 23-29 at the Scotiabank Aquatics Center.
